About Alyssa
After receiving her Master's degree in Clinical-Counseling Psychology from Illinois State University in 2005, Alyssa worked as a Child and Adolescent Therapist at The Children's Center. She then worked as a Counselor at Rochester High School for more than 8 years. She has also provided counseling
services to women both at the Sangamon County Jail and at the residential and transitional housing facilities through Positive Options, Referrals and Alternatives (PORA).
Alyssa is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor. She has received specialized training helping
parents of children diagnosed with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, as well as helping adolescents who self-injure. Other areas of specialized training and interest include: eating disorders, relaxation and mindfulness, anxiety and school refusal, grief and loss, and extensive training on bullying in adolescence. She has facilitated grief groups for teens and substance abuse groups for teens and adults.
I have lived in the Springfield area most of my life. I am married and have two children and a dog. I enjoy spending time with friends and family, gardening and running. I have a down-to-earth personality and approach to counseling. I provide practical strategies that you can begin using right away. I look forward to meeting and getting to know you!
